Reading, PA Protest Update
Attention all activists! Upcoming PA Protest!
Use Our Voice Protest August 26th, 2018
The #metoo movement has exposed predatory behavior in entertainment, politics and business. Now it’s time to turn the spotlight onto religion. A group of former Jehovah’s Witnesses plan a day of protest during the religious sects’ annual convention on August 26th, 2018 in Reading, PA at Santander Arena.
They will be speaking out against the Watchtower Bible and Tract Societies policies that have been internationally condemned for protecting child sex abusers.
The Two Witness Rule is part of Jehovah’s Witnesses doctrine and requires there to be two witnesses to any abuse. It has been widely criticized as a barrier to justice for those who have been sexually abused.
Other human rights abuses by the organization will also be addressed including: the discrimination of minority members such as LGBTQ, People of Color, and women. Watchdogging and discriminating restrictions for undocumented immigrants. Speaking out for conscientious objectors who have been wrongly imprisoned due to following Watchtower Policy and then abandoned by the society. A memoriam for victims of suicide as well as ones who have passed from refusing blood transfusions as a result to Watchtowers strict shunning policies, and more.
A group of ex followers from various backgrounds will peacefully gather outside the convention center with banners, artwork, music, demonstrations, and a moment of silence for those who have passed.
You are more than welcome to join us in a friendly protest featuring artwork, demonstrations, etc.
More info will be avaliable soon.
